Description

GFM Institute is offered the first Friday of every month on a variety of topics to equip Christians to reach Muslims with the love and message of Christ.

Join us on Friday, July 6th, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. to hear from "Dr. S" on this month's topic, "Aisha and an Enquiry into the Role of Women." This session will uncover insider and outsider perspectives on how women are seen as functioning in Islam. Dr. S will highlight current changes demonstrated through developments in Saudi Arabia, and will unpack ways to reach women in Islam. Dr. S (see bio below) is well-versed in issues of globalization and contextualization among Muslim communities, and offers a fascinating and unique perspective, having personally served in restricted areas. Featured Presenter: "Dr. S"

Dr. S was born and raised in South Africa where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He joined the family retail business, and because of a love for teaching also joined the Commerce faculty at Rhodes University teaching business and accounting. As part of a call to reach the nations he completed a Master of Divinity degree in international church planting at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His particular calling has been to those who have never heard and this led to his family serving overseas in an unreached, restricted access area. He was blessed to see how the Lord is making Himself known among the unreached and is passionate about training others to help complete the task that remains. His Doctor of Theology studies have been through the University of South Africa, with a focus on the issues of contextualization and globalization in relation to the starting of churches among the unreached.

(Dr. S works in closed contexts, so his name has been abbreviated to protect his identity.)
